Mark Cattini, CEO
Mark Cattini is a veteran executive in the software industry with more than 20 years experience helping high-profile companies strategically grow and become profitable.
Prior to joining Awareness, Cattini worked at Pitney Bowes as president of marketing services. It was during this time that he provided the overall strategic direction for a business segment that was built through several acquisitions including Imagitas, Advertising Audit Services (AAS), PMH and Digital Cement with total revenues of approximately $200M.
Cattini also served as president and CEO of MapInfo for seven years. During his tenure, Cattini led the company’s charge into newly-defined vertical markets and revamped the company’s business model to create a more predictable revenue stream. His successful leadership led to the company’s acquisition by Pitney Bowes in a transaction worth approximately $500M.
Before joining MapInfo, Cattini spent a total of eight years at Lotus Development working in several sales roles on both the channel and enterprise side and was also responsible for heading up the corporate account sales team prior to his departure.
Cattini earned his B.A. from Thames Valley University where he received honors in business studies.
Robin Hopper, Founder, VP of Strategy & Services
Robin Hopper is the founder of Awareness. Robin's professional background combines extensive startup experience with years of software development and professional services delivery and management.
Robin served as VP Strategy for Ibex Technologies Inc.—the market leader fax-on-demand software from 1992 to 1998. During his tenure he helped define the document delivery and content management strategy for organizations like MCI, Bell Canada, Microsoft, Air Canada, IBM, Dell, and Canada Post.
Having helped take Ibex from start up to successful acquisition by Castelle Corporation in 1997, Robin leveraged his document management experience and fulfilled his vision for web content management by founding Awareness, a leader in the rapidly growing area of social media marketing.
Melissa Leffler, VP Engineering
Melissa Leffler brings more than 20 years of software engineering and business management experience to the Awareness team and has a successful history of building and leading large technical and operations teams to deliver great products. Prior to joining Awareness, Leffler was chief of operations and engineering for Global Health Delivery at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Harvard Medical School, where she led the creation of a collaborative community website that allows health care implementers from multiple organizations to connect and share practices, resources and tools.
David Carter, Founder & Chief Technology Officer
David provides the overall technology direction of the company and consults with our customers to align their internet strategy with their corporate objectives. David founded WebPartz Inc. which was acquired by Awareness in March of 2003. Prior to forming WebPartz, he spent 11 years at Microsoft where he had held various positions including Manager of Internet Strategy, Marketing Manager Knowledge Management, Content Management, and eCommerce products. In each of these roles he worked closely with large corporations rolling out the Microsoft platform and developing a business strategy. His last role was as Internet Strategy Manager where he oversaw sections of microsoft.com and Microsoft Canada's Intranet.
Steve Richards, CFO
Steve Richards has 18 years of professional services and software experience. He has overall responsibility for financial management, legal and administrative functions.
Before joining Awareness Steve was CFO of ClearForest where he helped them become the world leader in business solutions enabled by Text Analytics. Clearforest was sold to Reuters in April 2007.
Prior to joining ClearForest, Steve was VP of Operations &CFO of netNumina, purchased by Keane in March 2005, helping the firm to achieve Inc. 500 status in 2002 as the 182nd fastest growing private company in the country. Richards was also CFO of Tessera Enterprise Systems, Inc., purchased by iXL in January 2000. Steve played an integral role in building the company to $40 million in revenues and spearheaded the launching operations in San Francisco, Chicago, Munich, and London. Before joining Tessera, he had a five-year tenure at Sybase serving as Senior Financial Manager of the Worldwide Professional Services Division, which grew from $25 to $235 million in revenues during his period of service, and was extensively involved in the business operations including the launch of numerous new offices as well as mergers and acquisitions.
Steve has a B.A. in Economics and an MBA in Finance from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
Mike Lewis, VP of Marketing
Mike is an entrepreneur and marketing executive with a 14-year track record of success as a senior manager at early-stage technology companies.
Mike was most recently the CEO and Co-Founder of Stimulate Solutions, a SaaS software provider focused on leveraging social media to target leads and increase demand. He was responsible for general management and company operations, business development, marketing and sales.
Prior to forming Stimulate, Mike led marketing activities at several early stage technology firms, helping them mature into highly successful organizations. As Vice President of Marketing at PlatformQ, Mike increased demand by 120% and increase strategic partners by 200%. As Vice President of Marketing at Salesnet, he drove all marketing activities, leading up to the company's acquisition by RightNow Technologies (NASDAQ: RNOW). At StreamServe, Inc., Michael led marketing during a time of rapid growth when the company saw an increase in U.S. license revenue of 166% and a 50% increase in overall revenue.
Mike has been the President of the Business Marketing Association Boston since January of 2005. During his time as President, the BMA saw a 200% increase in demand and a 120% increase in non-dues revenue which is the largest increase in chapter history. Michael also serves as the Chairman of Marketing and Communication in the Bentley University graduate alumni association.
Michael earned a BA in Organizational Psychology from Stonehill College and an MBA from Bentley University.
