John Bruce, CEO
John Bruce has a solid track record of leadership and achievement as a senior sales, marketing and business development executive in developing high tech markets.
Most recently, John was a General Manager within the Documentum Group of EMC. Prior to this, he was President and CEO of Authentica, a leading information security company which was acquired by EMC.
Before leading Authentica, he was Chief Marketing Officer and Executive Vice President of Sales for Counterpane Internet Security, with responsibility for establishing the company marketing strategy and driving sales. Counterpane was acquired by British Telecom.
John also spent more than eight years at Symantec Corporation in senior management roles. In his last position there, he was Vice President of Business Development and Alliances, driving strategic alliances with major vendors including HP, IBM, and Intel. These alliances were considered by the industry to be major contributors to Symantec's dramatic growth in sales to corporations.
Doug Caldwell, VP Engineering
Doug Caldwell has over two decades in the IT industry. Prior to joining Awareness, Doug held positions such as Chief Technology Officer at Indigo Books and Music Inc. where he lead the architecture, development, implementation and operations of all technology solutions and services for the $800MM retailer (www.chapters.indigo.ca and 260 stores across Canada). Prior to Indigo he was the Practice Manager of Microsoft Consulting and a member of the Strategic Management Team at Microsoft Canada.
David Carter, Founder & Chief Technology Officer
David provides the overall technology direction of the company and consults with our customers to align their internet strategy with their corporate objectives. David founded WebPartz Inc. which was acquired by iUpload in March of 2003. Prior to forming WebPartz, he spent 11 years at Microsoft where he had held various positions including Manager of Internet Strategy, Marketing Manager Knowledge Management, Content Management, and eCommerce products. In each of these roles he worked closely with large corporations rolling out the Microsoft platform and developing a business strategy. His last role was as Internet Strategy Manager where he oversaw sections of microsoft.com and Microsoft Canada's Intranet.
Robin Hopper, Founder & VP Business Development
Robin Hopper is the founder of iUpload. Robin's professional background combines extensive startup experience with years of software development and professional services delivery and management.
Robin served as VP Strategy for Ibex Technologies Inc.—the market leader fax-on-demand software from 1992 to 1998. During his tenure he helped define the document delivery and content management strategy for organizations like MCI, Bell Canada, Microsoft, Air Canada, IBM, Dell, and Canada Post.
Having helped take Ibex from start up to successful acquisition by Castelle Corporation in 1997, Robin leveraged his document management experience and fulfilled his vision for web content management by founding iUpload. After seven years in operation, Robin has lead iUpload to be a leader in the rapidly growing area of social media for corporations.
Steve Richards, CFO
Steve Richards has 18 years of professional services and software experience. He has overall responsibility for financial management, legal and administrative functions.
Before joining Awareness Steve was CFO of ClearForest where he helped them become the world leader in business solutions enabled by Text Analytics. Clearforest was sold to Reuters in April 2007.
Prior to joining ClearForest, Steve was VP of Operations &CFO of netNumina, purchased by Keane in March 2005, helping the firm to achieve Inc. 500 status in 2002 as the 182nd fastest growing private company in the country. Richards was also CFO of Tessera Enterprise Systems, Inc., purchased by iXL in January 2000. Steve played an integral role in building the company to $40 million in revenues and spearheaded the launching operations in San Francisco, Chicago, Munich, and London. Before joining Tessera, he had a five-year tenure at Sybase serving as Senior Financial Manager of the Worldwide Professional Services Division, which grew from $25 to $235 million in revenues during his period of service, and was extensively involved in the business operations including the launch of numerous new offices as well as mergers and acquisitions.
Steve has a B.A. in Economics and an MBA in Finance from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
Eric Schurr, VP Marketing and Direct Sales
During his 25+ years in the software industry, Eric Schurr has held leadership positions in general management, product strategy, and marketing in companies ranging from startups to leading global enterprises, including IBM, Rational Software, SQA, and Cognos. His experiences range from driving a startups explosive growth and successful IPO to being the chief marketing officer for the worlds 23rd largest software company.
Eric was VP of world wide marketing for IBMs Rational software division after IBM acquired Rational. Eric was Rationals chief marketing officer, and he founded and ran the business unit that produced a milestone product line that generated over 1/3 of Rationals new product revenue within two years. At SQA, Eric drove the companys product and marketing strategy and was a key member of the executive team that took the company public.
Eric was also an executive in residence at Greylock Partners, and he is on the board of Active EndPoints, a start up company building leading software in the BPEL market.
