Bookmarking

Users can store and share URLs to websites and pages, creating a resource library with links across the internet.
Content Tags
When creating content users can associate posts with specific key words, called tags. When searching for content they can see a list of tags, click on one and view all content tagged with that word. They can also use tag clouds that show a list of tags with their popularity indicated by font size.
GEO Tags
Geo Tags add geographic context to content. They allow a specific location to be added to the content. Users can type in addresses, click maps or key in the longitude and latitude co-ordinates to tag their post. A Geo-RSS feed and map shows the location of each geo-tagged post created.
Participation Widgets
Widgets seamlessly add Web 2.0 functionality to existing websites. Three new widgets have been added – comments, quick-post forms and voting – taking the widget library to 30.
Broad Content Distribution The Awareness Platform provides a number of different ways to distribute content so that it can be delivered to the right audience at the right time in the right context, including: individual blogs, group blogs, new web sites, augmenting existing web sites, RSS feeds, custom RSS feeds, enterprise portals, and within CRM systems.
Integrated Search Search capabilities are included throughout the platform, allowing desired content to be found quickly and easily. Awareness’s search capabilities extend from each individual page to the community, with the ability to drill down and search within specific community categories only or even specific fields within posts.

Community Administrators: The most robust administration tools

Template Management and Advanced Templating

A sophisticated yet easy to use template language addresses almost any custom requirements at the presentation level.
Ad Networks You can run ads in your blog community and underlying RSS feeds in a variety of ways via one of our ad server partners or by inserting your own ad server code into the Awareness templates.
Advanced Permissioning and Personalization
A unique personalization layer that allows you to define feature availability and permissions at the community, group and individual levels. You can define who can contribute, edit, view, and comment on entries within specific categories.
Editorial Controls and Workflow
Full control over how content is released is defined within the platform. An unlimited number of publishing-oriented workflow models can be established to ensure the reliability of content by requiring the appropriate approvals before publication. Only once content has been created and approved is it published.
On-The-Fly Rich Profile Creation
Administrators can add new attributes to user profiles on-the-fly and prompt users when they next login to provide the new information. Administrators can decide if the new information is required or optional.
Enhance User-Interface

Enhancements to the user interface make it even easier to make changes.
Rules Based Workflow
Rules - based workflow allows administrators to automatically moderate, control, and oversee a community. Rules can be created to: email alerts to a person or group, control the workflow approval process for user-generated content; automatically approve, reject or categorize postings based on content; flag postings that contain specific words; replace specific words in a posting with other words, HTML, or JavaScript entries; and more.
Controlled Content Distribution When distributing content the platform allows submissions to be directed through a customizable approval process, complete with editorial capabilities, to ensure the quality of any repurposed content.
Comment and Discussion Moderation
Comment management extends from individual pages to the community level. Administrators can monitor, approve, delete or respond to comments.
Incoming RSS Feed Support
RSS feeds can be used as content, allowing you to draw external blogs and web feeds into the community to provide an even broader range of content. All of the approval rules that you would apply to content coming from blogs within your community can be applied to RSS based content, as well as additional features such as the ability to screen your feeds for keywords specified by administrators.
Outgoing RSS Feeds Administrators decide what RSS feeds are generated automatically for each page. Options include page (including blog, wiki etc), category, user and content type. This provides viewers with the ability to subscribe to the content which is targeted to their specific interests and needs, growing the audience.
Voting and Polling
Democratize content aggregation by incorporating voting and rating options into your community. These interactive options provide a powerful source of marketing data from your viewers. Beyond simple voting and rating options of sites like Digg, the Awareness platform lets you define voting, rating, and even questions at an individual category level, customizing your interaction with your community's viewers.
Email Notification
Events related to a blog, such as new comments that require approval or a trackback to a post, can be configured to trigger email notification to the appropriate people. This allows a user to manage their site more effectively to encourage viewer participation and engagement within their blog.
Reporting
Statistics allow you to measure the reach of the community, and provide key figures that allow you to track its performance. While each individual has access to personal statistics, administrators have full metrics on the community at large –site visits, page views, ad impressions, click-throughs, etc. Additionally, a full record of all content included on your community at any given time is maintained and archived ensuring all current and previous posts, comments, and attachments can be tracked for reporting purposes.

Web 2.0 Uniform Content: One architecture for all user-generated content.

Multiple Content Attributes With Awareness’s uniform content architecture everything is a post – no need to author multiple entries for separate uses. Simply author your content and then further define it by applying a number of attributes that will transform the post into any combination of the following:
  • blog/group blog
  • wiki
  • discussion forum
  • photo album/photo blog
  • video album/video blog tag clouds
  • podcast and/or videocast
  • calendar entry
Repurposable Content
Gather content from any participation experience and share it in any other, while retaining the context of the author who generated it. For example, a blog entry can be repurposed as an entry in a wiki, or an email can be automatically shared as a blog entry. This uniform architecture maximizes the value of your user-generated content while allowing the most flexible participation experience for community members.
